Program Coordinator

The Calgary Sport and Social Club (CSSC) is currently looking to fill the GoPlay! Program Coordinator (Summer) position. The successful candidate will work directly with the Manager of Youth Operations (MYO) in ensuring leagues are planned, launched and facilitated to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has leadership experience, enjoys teaching and coaching, working with children from ages 18 months to 7 years old, and has a preference to be in a customer service role.

General Overview

GoPlay! is powered by the awesome team at the CSSC. CSSC is a co-ed, adult-only, recreational sports league provider that operates year-round. After bringing recreational 'sport' and 'social' offerings to adults in our city for 25+ years, we are excited to take all we do and give that to the youth in Calgary as well!

We bring social and physical development together in our classes, as instructors lead youth as young as 18 months in our programs. Our games and activities are not only designed to work on children's physical literacy, but also key skills such as sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork and more! Offerings are comprised of four distinct sessions throughout the year; they follow the four seasons and each session runs for 6-8 weeks.

This position is full-time for the Spring and Summer seasons, with the opportunity for part-time work in the Fall and Winter.  

Responsibilities

  • Learn the operations of the GoPlay! Program from the Manager of Youth Operations (MYO) and master the GoPlay! Coaches training material.

  • Assist with training new coaches, as well as work coaching shifts throughout the week.

  • Perform GoPlay! class visits and mentorship of GoPlay! Coaches.

  • Perform mid-season evaluations for GoPlay! Coaches. 

  • Administrative duties, including: class reports, evaluations, and coach feedback.

  • Provide excellent customer service on the phone, in-person and via email. 

  • Assist in marketing tactics as needed (training provided). 

  • Assist in planning, organizing and executing events such as birthday parties, playground takeovers and season end parties. 

  • Update and maintain the player database and profiles. 

  • Manage registrations and makeup classes through our database & website. 

  • Assisting with emergency phone calls during class times (1-2 nights per week, and rotating weekend mornings). 

  • Role model the CSSC/GoPlay! values (pride, ownership and care) inside and outside the office.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Youth Operations.

Start Date

February 2024

Hours

  • 4-8 hours weekly, February-April

  • 35-40 hours weekly, May-August

The Program Coordinator must be available during the evenings on at least 3 nights (4pm to 8pm) a week.

Compensation

$20-$22/Hour + $750 Bonus

Bonus available based on a 2-season contract. The bonus and a potential raise are contingent upon a Performance Review completed by the Manger of Youth Operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in sports and/or working with youth/childcare 

  • Weeknight and weekend availability 

  • Reliable vehicle 

  • Coaching experience would be an asset 

  • Friendly and outgoing leadership 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Respectful

Requirements

All coaches will be required to provide: 

  • Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening   

  • Valid & completed First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to get)
